2010 BGAL Bowling Rules
- Teams
- 4 Bowlers per team.
One bowler present constitutes a team.
- Schedule
- League will bowl 16 weeks starting May 11th and running until August 24th. First week does not count for standings and is used for average purposes for new bowlers. Weeks 2 through 15 count for the league standings with a playoff round scheduled for week 16.
- Cost
- $14.00 per week (10.50 Bowling, $3.50 Prize Fund). You are required to make up in full $14.00 when you are absent.
- Averages
- Bowlers will use previous season's league average. Winter League(2009-2010) first, if no average then Summer league(2009). If no average then bowler will use the previous Summer league average(2008 then 2007). If still no average then bowler will use current average after 3 games. All bowlers with previous averages will use current average after 6 games.
- Late Arrivals & Absences
- Warmups start at 7:15pm. Bowling begins promptly at 7:30pm. A late bowler may enter a game at any frame at the discretion of the team captain. A score of 10% of the bowlers average will be used for the frames missed (max. 10 pins). Missed frames cannot be made up. If a bowler is absent, 5 pins are deducted from that bowlers average. A bowler is considered dropped from the league if absent or behind in dues more than three weeks.
- Scoring
- League will use 90% handicap and is added to total pinfall. Wins and losses are based on 7 point system. 2 points each game and 1 point for Total Pinfall. Total Pinfall will decide ties in final standings.
- Raffle
- Each week we will be doing a 50/50 raffle. Tickets will be 3 for $1.00, 20 for $5.00. The winning tickets will be drawn during the 3rd game. The first ticket drawn will win 50% of the money collected that night. The second ticket drawn will have a chance to bowl for the running jackpot. The jackpot starts at $20. Bowl a strike and win the jackpot. Bowl a spare and win $15. If the bowler does not throw a strike or spare then they will get $1 for every pin knocked down and $10 will be added to the strike jackpot for the following week.
- Prizes
- The top 3 teams for the Eastern conference and Western conference will receive trophies. There will be individual awards as well. There will be a Summer ending cookout free to all league members. Bowlers who drop out of the league forfeit all prize monies.
- Town Hall is dropping the shoe rental of $3.00 for the league. There will be a jar on the counter and they are asking for a $2.00 donation that will go towards Marriage Equality RI.
- The bowling alley is non-smoking and this is a state law. If you would like to smoke you can take a smoking break outside in between each game.
- The proprietors request that no outside food or beverages be brought inside the bowling center. The bar will be open and has a small food menu and alcohol.
